On my first trip to the Galapagos, every day was exiting. But I thought that one day was even more exciting than all the other days. Why? Well on that day, we:

That was a really cool day. Let me tell you about it!

When we set out to hike the volcano, I was very excited. It was a little cold out, so we brought our ponchos. And it was a good thing to! On the way out, it started to rain, hard. When we started to climb, it was sooo muddy! We were slipping and sliding and falling! It was a good thing we had our good hiking shoes on. If we had worn sandals, oh that would have been bad!

When we finally got to the top, it was so foggy we couldn’t see the crater we had come for. But the hike was fun; I love mud! We were with the guide and another couple, so they went off a little higher. When they came back, they said that they were able to see a little more up higher. But we were too tired to go any higher that day. Maybe next time we will get there!

By the time we were back down, we were mud monsters! We were covered in mud from the waist down! I loved it! But I also loved the hot shower I got to take after!

Then we went to a cool tortoise reserve. And we got to watch the tortoises eat! It was sooo fun! It was really funny to watch how messy the tortoise was, he is messier than a new born baby! We watched him eat papaya until we had laughed our pants clean off! Watch a giant tortoise eat papaya.

When we asked our guide if the tortoises were free or enclosed, he said: “No, they are free. They just live behind a protective fence”. We all thought that was pretty funny!

Next, we went boogie boarding. It was so fun! We borrowed some boards from the Lodge and played in the waves. I love that feeling! I can’t wait to do it again when we go back!

Then we went snorkeling. It was my first time snorkeling so I was a little nervous. But mom stayed within my comfort zone and we had a great time! We saw some blue fish and they had purple and yellow to. There were also some long ones. But those made me feel a little scared.

After that we went back to the lodge and had a wonderful super. It was so nice after that long day of fun! But I can’t wait to do it all again someday soon!

Thank you for reading! Tell me what you think in the comments please!

These are experiences that will stay with you for a lifetime. I expect that your adventures in the Galapagos will make you more observant of the world around you and will certainly give you a broader education than most will ever have the opportunity to get.
