Food is one of my favorite reasons to travel. I don’t have to cook or clean up anything.
And I love good food. When we really get down to it, the food can make or break our vacation experience.
The Galapagos Islands are unique in so many ways; everything is controlled for the conservation and preservation of the Islands. These governmental controls can affect availability and quality of the food. The regulations determine where the food comes from, how it is grown and how much of certain products are available.
These strict controls can make it hard for restaurants in the Galapagos. I think it must be one of the hardest places on the planet to run a restaurant. But I couldn’t tell when we were eating. The food was amazing!
Most of the meals were buffet style, which we loved because some of us eat a lot … and others a little. With the buffet we were all satisfied.
Drew, our daughter, loved the buffet because she got to choose just what she wanted. There was nothing left on her plate!
We had good coffee (and lots of it) fresh juice and fruit every morning. And in the evenings we had pork, roast beef, salmon, chicken and seafood.
The deserts were yummy – I’m a desert person so I can always make room for something sweet.
Why I Loved the Food at Red Mangrove Lodges
Because we were so active – hiking, snorkeling and traveling – we needed something that wouldn’t leave us feeling bloated, greasy and ready for a nap. Because of the quality and type of food we felt good, satisfied and ready for more exploring.
The food at Red Mangrove helped make this one of our most unforgettable trips ever!
