GETTING THERE

Two airports receive flights from mainland Ecuador. There are no direct international flights to the Galapagos. The most frequently used airport from mainland Ecuador is Baltra. Arriving here, you will be able to use an easy airport transfer service to finish your arrival to Puerto Ayora. Arriving at Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal island you can find an irregular boat service that is able to take you to Puerto Ayora.

Flight Information:
• All flights originate in Quito and will make a stopover in Guayaquil.
• High season fares: (1 Nov to 30 Apr and 15 Jun to 14 Sep)
US$390* from Quito
US$345* from Guayaquil
• Low season fares:
US$334* from Quito
US$300* from Guayaquil
• The same prices apply regardless of whether you fly to San Cristobal or Baltra.
• The ticket is valid for 21 days from the date of departure.
• Independent travellers must get their boarding pass (pre-chequeo) for outward and return flights 2 days before departure.

*The above prices are subject to change without notice.

Airport transfer to Puerto Ayora is rather simple and obvious upon arrival to Baltra. Two buses meet flights from the mainland. One bus (take this one to arrive at the Red Mangrove Inn) goes to Canal de Itabaca, the narrow channel which separates Baltra from Santa Cruz . It is 15 mins to the Canal, free, then you cross the channel on a small ferry for US$0.70. Another bus waits on the Santa Cruz side to take you to Puerto Ayora in 45 mins, U$ 1.50. The other bus runs to the port or muelle (10 mins, no charge) where the cruise boats wait. If you arrive at Baltra on one of the local inter-island flights then you have to wait until the next flight from the mainland for bus service, or you might be able to hire a taxi. The airport in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is within walking distance of the town, but those on prearranged tours will be met.
