Day 1

You will spend your first night in Guayaquil in a very comfortable and beautiful five star hotel. You can relax and enjoy the hotel facilities.

Guayaquil City

Day 2

At breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity to try some typical Ecuadorian dishes which provide you a lot of energy for your daily adventures, including traditional “ceviche” (upon availability).

After breakfast, you will take a small city tour, visiting the most iconic and important places of this beautiful city. Then we’ll have a typical Ecuadorian lunch. If it’s in season, you can try our unique mangrove crab. August 15 through September 15 you are not able to eat crab due to government regulation to protect the species.

After lunch, we’ll enter the mangroves in near Puerto Azul, a suburb of the city of Guayaquil.

The kayaks will be waiting for us with our guide whose job is to make you feel comfortable and safe. In Puerto Azul, you’ll be able to see different kind of birds but most of all you will have a very peaceful encounter with the nature in very calm waters. You can let yourself be guided by nature and just enjoy the mangrove landscapes.

The same afternoon, we will head to the beach of General Villamil. The drive is about 50 minutes along good highways. Here you will stay at Hotel Playa Paraiso. You will have dinner and then you can rest for your next days adventure.

Playas Ecuador.

Day 3

In the morning you will have breakfast at the hotel and then we take a 40 minute drive to Puerto el Morro.

Here we’ll visit the 300-year-old San Miguel church. Then we will have a nice walk to cerro el muerto which is a small mountain with the shape of a man lying on the floor. We’ll climb to the head of the mountain and visit a small sanctuary.

El Morro Church

Our mangrove fisherman is waiting for us at the small pier of Puerto el morro.

We will travel with the fisherman and glide through the mangroves to the “isla de los Pájaros” (Bird Island). This uninhabited island is home to thousands of birds.

During our short walk on the island, we will see countless frigate birds, and maybe some different heron species, including the pink, white, or blue.

Then we will go back to the pier for a snack.

The kayaks will wait for us near the mangroves so we could have an up close and personal encounter with the mangrove birds. You will see how the fisherman work and they’ll share some of their experiences.

Back to the hotel for a farewell dinner.

Day 4
